Paris sightseeing
|
Paris is a breath taking city, so give it as much time as you can, and
be prepared for a unique holiday. A very useful thing is to purchase
the Paris Museum Pass, a pre-paid entry card that allows entry into
over 70 museums and monuments around Paris. With this card you can skip
long queues and enjoy great exhibitions. Some museums/galleries are
closed on Monday or Tuesday! |
|
Another good deal is getting a Paris
Pass, providing entry to 60 attractions including as well as a river
cruise, open decked bus tour, and allows free metro & public
transport travel. National Museums have free entry every first Sunday
of the month!
One of the most famous landmarks in the world is
the Eiffel Tower, a “must see” if you go to Paris. The panoramic view
when you reach the top will be worth the time that you had to wait in a
queue in order to get a ticket. The most eye-catching sight, the
Catacombs, awaits it visitors with a morbid and murkily dark
atmosphere. If you are already in a gloomy mood, you can also visit the
Père-Lachaise Cemetery where you can find the grave of Jim Morrison.
In
Paris you can find some of the most magnificent cathedrals. Check out
the Notre Dame Cathedral, an impressive Gothic cathedral that was the
inspiration for Victor Hugo's novel The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Placed
on the highest point in Paris, Sacre Coeur is absolutely gorgeous. Some
say it is far more beautiful than the Notre Dame, the Sainte Chapelle
is worthy of a visit especially on a sunny day, due to its large gothic
windows it offers a spectacle of colors on the floor. The magnificent
home and gardens of the Sun King Louis XIV, Chateau Versailles, will
certainly leave you speechless.
The Pantheon, providing a great
view of the city, the Arc de Triomphe and the Grand Arche de la Defense
are all places that make your visit worth while. As we all know, Paris
has tones of galleries and museum. The most prominent being The Louvre,
one of the best museums when it comes to art and culture. Do wear
comfortable shoes as you are into quite lot of walking in this gigantic
museum. Further on the Picasso Museum, the Rodin Museum, Delacroix
National museum and the Centre Georges Pompidou, where the building is
already worth it, are all an insights to different art periods and
great artists. |
