While visiting Barcelona you can
not leave out a walk down the most famous boulevard,
stretching from Plaza de Catalunya to the Harbor; Las Ramblas. Here
you'll find small flower and vegetable stands, shoe shining boys,
street-performers, galleries, cafeterias and some of the
Barcelona's theatres. |

The
Academia de Sciencias, with its giant watch from 1868 and the Palacio
de Moya with its extraordinary wall-paintings deserve your attention.
One of the most visited spots in Barcelona is the Mercado de La
Boquería, a large market with a wide range of delicious food to offer.
A very popular meeting point is Plaça Reial, once the palace of the
counts of Barcelona, today the heart of an artist district, creating a
charming ambience with its cafes and pubs. One can find the
fountain of the Three Graces here as well as the streetlights designed
by Gaudi in the middle of one of the most beautiful squares in the
world. To get more acquainted with Gaudi’s work, take
a visit to La Pedrera (Casa Mila) which hosts a large
exposition of the artists works, revealing
many hidden details one would never notice on its own( entrance: €8. )
If you get off at the Lesseps metro station and follow the arrows
leading to Güell Park, you will be rewarded with a panoramic view of
the whole city. Consisting of two distinct parts, an
undeveloped natural area and the famous
sculpture park, full of walkways and structures showing the
apart and colorful style of Gaudi, including the famous
terrace and all this for Free (be aware of pickpockets!).
Gaudi’s most beloved project inspired by gothic architecture is, La
Sagrada Família (still unfinished). Offering a truly impressive sight
at night with the lights on, showing why people say it’s built out of
bones. (entrance €9).
La Casa Batlló, one of the most charismatic buildings, is open for
visitors from ground floor to a roof, (entrance €16.5). Also
worth checking out the Gothic Basilica of Santa Maria del
Mar, the Picasso Museum, the San Pau del Camp, a Romanesque
church , Plaça d'Espanya with famous red columns and the Gothic Quarter.
You can take a visit to the Cathedral of Santa Eulàlia, the Gothic
Church of Santa Maria del Pi, the Montjuïc Castle and the Tibiadbo (532
m), believed to be the place where the Devil seduced Jesus. Awaiting
tourists with a large number of restaurants, bars and clubs which have
made Barcelona's nightlife even more intense. |
