Pamplona sightseeing

Pamplona attractions by Favio Bolano Apart form the bulls and long parties that are the main attraction of Pamplona, there is more to be seen, so just wander around and breathe in the special atmosphere, relax and go with the flow. Catch a great bullfight show in the evening, and sometimes around 11 am during San Fermin you will be allowed to enter the stadium for free and watch student bullfighters hone their craft.
Just before the festival begins, on the 5th of July is also becoming more and more famous, as PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) hosts a "running of the nudes" to protest the bullfights. However do not expect totally naked people, as that is against the law!

There are numerous outstanding churches, most of them dating back to the 16th and 18th century fortified system and several notable buildings in terms of their architecture. An amazing example is the 14th century Gothic Cathedral, with a fascinating cloister and a remarkable neoclassical façade. Furthermore you can visit Saint Serning and Saint Nicolas, two marvelous churches, also built in Gothic style as well as Saint Dominic and Saint Augustine built during the 16th century.

In Saint Lawrence one can admire the 17th century baroques style chapel, while jumping ahead in time, the most outstanding twentieth century religious building are the new diocesan seminary and the classical style memorial church.

Furthermore, walk around the remaining beautiful medieval bridges, like Santa Engracia, Miluce, Magdalena, and San Pedro, visit the Palace of Saint Peter, which was recently rebuilt in order to be used as the General Archive of Navarre, check out the oldest standing building,  a 14th century house. Do not live out a visit to the Neoclassical Palace of Navarre, and if you like baroque architecture, the Town Hall, the Rozalejo's, Ezpeleta's, and the Navarro-Tafalla's are amazing examples.

Pamplona also has some amazing green areas; the oldest is the Taconera Park, a very romantic place, perfect for a long walk. One of the most remarkable parks is the Yamaguchi Park, with a beautiful Japanese garden, further you can walk around in the Parque Del Mundo in Chantrea and the Arga Park. The Media Luna Park is the perfect place to relax, enjoying its large lawns and modern sculptures.
