There is one thing you will surly not miss in Stockholm, and those are
dazzling tourist attractions. A great variety, starting with the
remarkable architecture of the City Hall to the breathtaking beauties
of the archipelago, Stockholm is a promising city. |

The archipelago, stretching on
approximately 80Km, with 24 000 islands, offering a large
diversity of nature, from flourishing green to bare cliffs, some have
restaurants, hostels, stores while others are totally deserted, making
it possible for one to go on a real adventure . In search of a unique
experience, spend a day in Gamla Stan, the picturesque historical heart
of Stockholm, wondering around its small streets, houses and the
magnificent church Riddarholmskyrkan, the only remaining abbey, all
dating back to medieval times.
In order to get better
acquainted with the traditions of the Swedish monarchy, pay a visit to
The Royal Palace and the royal family residence, Drottningholm Palace,
magnificent buildings with breathtaking gardens that will offer you an
unforgettable time.
In Stockholm one can choose from a great
variety of museums and art galleries. Truly a unique experience is the
Vasa museum with its magnificent 17th century warship and the Skansen,
the first open air museum in the world, featuring over 150 historic
buildings, a Zoo and an Aquarium. The city has nearly 70 museums, all
different and special in their own ways, including a Dance Museum, an
Army Museum, and a Butterfly Museum.
The Museum of History
awaits its visitors with a remarkable Viking exhibition, the National
Museum, located in a superb 19th century building, has a vast
collection of classical art among many others. Furthermore, the Museum
of Modern Art[edit], Prince Eugen's Waldemarsudde, and the Natalia
Goldin Gallery are just a few places that have amazing art collections
and exhibitions.
Apart from the above mentioned, the city also
has a number of beautiful churches, the Stockholm Cathedral, containing
two famous artworks, the 15th century wooden statue of Saint George and
a copy of the oldest known image of Stockholm("The Sun Dog Painting").
The Katarina kyrka, and the Bromma kyrka, which is one of the oldest
and most beautiful churches in the city, are both highly recommended.
Among
further attractions one can pay a visit to The Stockholm Public
Library, with an amazing architecture, the Stockholm Globe Arena,
claiming to be the world’s largest spherical building, the Gröna Lund,
Stockholm's only amusement park, and the Millesgården displaying a
great number of works by famous sculptor Carl Milles in his former
residence. |
